I feel a Blood Moon rising.....

Somebody saaaavve me!  So, it's the end of the world as we know it - so say the prophesies.  Have you gotten right with Jesus?  Prepped for the end?  Is your shelter stocked and ready?  The word on the street is pretty heavy - the Rapture is coming and the world is ending.  The September 28, 2015 Blood Moon is the next sign.  The Message in the sky....

“And I will show wonders in the heavens, and in the earth, blood and fire and pillars of smoke.   The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great
and awesome day of the Lord.” Joel 2:30-31

The idea of a "blood moon" serving as an omen of the coming of the end times comes from the Book of Joel, where it is written "the sun will turn into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes."

This phrase is again mentioned by Saint Peter during Pentecost, as recorded in Acts, although the Apostle Peter says that date, not some future date, was the fulfillment of Joel's prophecy. The blood moon also appears in the book of Revelation chapter 6 verses 11 - 13, where verse 12 says, " And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood.

The blood moon 2015 doomsday prophecies predict an “end of days,” or the Rapture, to occur on September 28. Known as a tetrad, it is the fourth lunar eclipse in the past two years. The blood moon eclipse will occur on the first night of the Jewish holiday Sukkot.

So, what is the Rapture?

The word Rapture does not appear in the Bible. It comes from the Latin word rapare which means "seize", "snatch" or "take away." The term Rapture is used to refer to the faithful believers being taken up to meet Christ in the air as described in this passage written by the apostle Paul:
 
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have died. For this we declare to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will by no means precede those who have died. For the Lord himself, with a cry of command, with the archangel's call and with the sound of
God's trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will be with the Lord forever. (NRSV, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17)


“And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.” (2 Thessalonians 2:6-8)

The Fine Line ....

It's been some time since I've updated my blog.  Life has recently run amok with all thing chaotic and crazy and it's been a bit difficult to keep up.  My readers that follow me know that I'm generally over-extended -- between my work-a-day career, family and my writing career.  The Selfie generation wouldn't hesitate to post all of their personal life all over the web.  Me, I'm inclined to be more selective.  I mean, let's face it, we all have trials and tribulations that life throws up in our path and because of this, some of the numerous things we do take a hit. 

These last couple months, for me, has been difficult and because of it, my writing has suffered.  Believe me, I'm not the only one complaining.  The voices of all of those endless characters waiting their turn for their stories to be written are bemoaning my lack of time.  But, family always comes first.  And it should.  These are the people we love the most, the people we yearn to come home to at the end of our day and the people we look forward to spending all of our free time with.  But there is always that fine line on how to balance the chaos.  The fine line on where you seek solace in the words and where the chaos reigns supreme.  When you've reached the tipping point and the chaos is screaming louder than the voices of all those stories, then you know you need to back-track and regroup.

If you're lucky -- like me -- the comforting arms of those you love will always be there, holding you, supporting you and giving you that nudge that says, "It's OK to seek solace in those words. It's your passion.  Write!"

So, as I regroup from my personal craziness, know that more works are on their way.  Faith 8 - Messenger is prepping for release.  Two other back-listed books are in-line for re-release and there are many, many more stories to come.  And, that no matter what road-blocks life may throw along the way, as long as you have the love and support of those around you and the fire of the passion that fuels you -- you'll always be able to find your way.

Odin - God of the Norse

Odin is considered the chief god in Norse mythology and the ruler of Asgard.  His name means "fury, excitation," "mind," or "poetry." His role, like many of the Norse gods, is complex. He is considered a principal member of the Aesir (Norse Pantheon) and is associated with wisdom, war, battle, and death,and also magic, poetry, prophecy, victory, and the hunt.


Support for Odin as a latecomer to the Scandinavian Norse pantheon can be found in the Sagas where, for example, at one time he is thrown out of Asgard by the other gods — a seemingly unlikely tale for
a well-established "all father." Scholars who have linked Odin with the "Death God" template include E. A. Ebbinghaus, Jan de Vries and Thor Templin. The later two also link Loki and Odin as being one-and-the-same until the early Norse Period.

Odin is attributed with discovering the runes (he letters in a set of related alphabets known as runic alphabets, which were used to write various Germanic languages before the adoption of the Latin alphabet and for specialised purposes thereafter.) He was hung from the world tree, Yggdrasil, while pierced by his own spear for nine days and nights, in order to learn the wisdom that would give him power in the nine worlds. Nine, being a significant number in Norse magical practice (there were, for example, nine realms of existence), thereby learning nine (later eighteen) magical songs and eighteen magical runes.
